Abstract

A comprehensive analysis of the empirical bimodal distribution of extreme seismic events in Polish mines is presented. Two mathematical models describing a bimodal distribution of seismic energy, formulation of two hypotheses explaining the observed bimodality and future infestations for verification of these hypotheses are consider.
